Privacy policy

This page exists for one purpose: to help you book a table at Kingfishers. We collect as little as we can to make that work and to understand which advertising is worth paying for.

What we collect here

This page has no contact form and no account signup, so we do not collect your name, address or payment details on it. What is collected falls into two groups.

• Standard server information. Our host records the usual technical details of a visit, including IP address, browser type, device type and the page requested. This is used to keep the site running and secure.
• Measurement information. If you arrive from one of our ads, your visit may carry a click identifier from Google. We use it to see which ads lead to reservations.

Advertising and analytics cookies

We advertise on Google. To know whether that advertising works, this page can load Google’s tag, which may set cookies on your device and report back when you take an action such as tapping the reservation button, the phone number or our email address.

We record that these actions happened. We do not record what you say on the phone or in an email, and we do not build advertising profiles from anything you do here. This page does not use remarketing lists, uploaded customer lists or custom audience segments.

Google acts as an independent controller of the data it collects through its own tag. Their handling is described in Google’s privacy policy and their advertising terms, available on google.com.

You can turn off personalised advertising in your Google account settings, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser. Doing either will not stop you from booking a table.

Fonts and maps

This page loads typefaces from Google Fonts and shows a map from Google Maps. Both are served by Google and involve a request from your browser to Google’s servers.

Booking on OpenTable

Our reservation buttons hand you over to OpenTable, which is a separate company with its own privacy policy and its own terms. Anything you enter on OpenTable, including your name, phone number and party size, is collected by them. We receive the resulting booking so we can hold your table. Read OpenTable’s privacy policy before you book if you would like the full picture.

Calls and email

If you call or email us to reserve, we keep what you tell us for as long as we need it to host you well: the date, the party size, the seating request and any dietary need you mention. We do not sell it and we do not pass it to anyone outside our team.

How long we keep things

Reservation details are kept while they are useful for service and record keeping. Advertising measurement data is kept according to Google’s own retention settings for our account.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email reservations.kingfishers@gmail.com and we will handle it. British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act sets out these rights and we follow it.
